My fourth meal from YummyBros. Chose to have no carbs so more broccoli were added.

Healthy and low carb rendang? Damn please let this be good.

It’s close! Good enough to satisfy your rendang cravings. It is not as heavy and savoury as the traditional rendang that I remember. I can definitely tell it is missing coconut cream and the amount of oil used is reduced. Could have given more of the rendang gravy though I understand rendang is supposed to be on the drier side. A little bit more wouldn’t hurt.

The dish uses beef shank. Mine came in cubes. About 9 of them. There were a few dark coloured pieces that was tough to chew. Not a fan of those. I love the fatty beef pieces though – easy to chew and I just like consuming fats.

Thoughts

You cannot expect this to taste exactly like the traditional rendang but it is good enough as a healthy alternative. This dish made me crave for rice. I will definitely order this again.
